Research Course Information
Before coming to Indianapolis, Dr. Mirsky was a field geologist and later consultant in uranium exploration in the southwest and Rocky Mountain areas. He also has studied sedimentary rocks from several areas of Antarctica. Dr. Mirsky came to IUPUI in 1967 to establish the Department of Geology degree program. His research interests center on applied geology, particularly on how society can best use its limited geologic resources, and how they have influenced the development of human history. He is especially concerned with environmental and urban geology, and has been involved with the study of building stones in downtown Indianapolis.
