Background
Ph.D., University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, 1991

Specialties
Water Resources, Wetland & Stream Restoration, Sustainability, Environmental Education, and Sedimentology

Recently Funded Projects
Dr. Tedesco has numerous collaborative research projects on a host of water resources issues related to mixed urban and agricultural watersheds (CEAP-Page 12), developing enhanced watershed best management practices (AQUISAFE I and II), the development of remote sensing tools for mapping cyanobacteria in surface waters (REMOTE SENSING-Page 16), the assessment of pesticide and personal care products on waterways (AQUISAFE), and developing strong environmental science education (DISCOVERING THE SCIENCE OF THE ENVIRONMENT) and outreach programs (ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE LEARNING).

Recent projects have focused on studies of urban riparian reforestation (LILLY ARBOR PROJECT), fen wetland restoration (STARLING FEN RESTORATION), and the restoration of isolated wetlands (RITCHEY WOODS). These projects have resulted in the development of a network of long-term research sites maintained by CEES staff and programs.

Applied research is a strong focus of Dr. Tedesco’s research. To this end, she has actively sought and received funding to implement watershed best management practices in area watersheds (EAGLE CREEK WATERSHED ALLIANCE) and has focused efforts on the development and enhancement of the Upper White River Watershed Alliance and serves in a leadership role with the organization.
