Development of software platform for
remote sensing & image applications; Geographic information systems
(GIS) and database technology.
Hyper-spectral remote sensing image
processing, spatial data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
Radiative transfer
modeling for atmospheric correction, and bio-optical modeling for
retrieving water quality parameters.

Dr. Hu’s
research involves bio-optical modeling and analysis in solving
problems in geology, hydrology, ecology and botany. He is also
interested in image processing techniques and software platforms for
remote sensing applications, geographical information system (GIS),
and computer cartography. At present he focuses his research on the
development and implementation of algorithms for hyper-spectral
imagery calibration and classification, target detection and
identification, multi-temporal and multi-source data analysis. He
has participated in several research projects aiming to develop
remote sensing methodologies
for
detection and identification of minerals and rocks, extraction of
biochemical and biophysical properties of vegetation and soils, and
retrieval of water quality data. |
