November Meeting Details

The November meeting of Indiana Geologists will be the annual joint meeting with Professional Geologists of Indiana. This meeting will be held Wednesday, November 14 Indianapolis at the North Side Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2100 East 71st Street (just west of Keystone Avenue on the north side; see directions below).

Cost of the buffet dinner, including tax and gratuities, is only $15, payable by check or cash at the door. We need a preliminary head count, so please RSVP if possible to Kevin Strunk at kstrunk@indy.net by 5 PM, Friday, November 9. Walk-ins are welcomed. Current or lapsed members may pay 2008 dues at the meeting.

For those interested in attending, there will be an open PGI board meeting starting at 3:30 PM. The Annual Meeting will be convened at 5:30 PM, with the board elections from 5:50 to 6:00 PM. PGI members must be present to vote. In addition to the board recommended candidates, nominations from the floor will be accepted until 5:45 PM. Only nominees who have previously accepted and confirmed their nomination, or who are in attendance if nominated from the floor, will be placed on the final ballot. Those paid-up PGI members interested in running for one of the four board positions are encouraged to contact PGI President Larry Studebaker by 5 pm Friday, November 10 (email lstud@att.net) . Being a board member includes an obligation to attend at least 4 board meetings per year held during the work week, committee assignments, potential officer duties, and also probably helping on various PGI activities such as the Spring Gathering of Geologists Picnic, and the Fall Universities Field Trip.

Following the election, there will be a Cash-bar Reception at 6:00 PM, followed by a buffet dinner beginning at 7:00 PM. The speaker for the evening is Vincent L. Griffin, Vice President Environmental and Energy Policy, Indiana Chamber of Commerce
