Economic Facts
- Indiana ranks 10th in state coal production, with 29,143,000 tons of Indiana coal mined in 1993. This one year of coal production, valued at $23.41 per ton was over 682 million dollars.
- The annual natural gas production is over 410 million cubic feet.
- Over 3.5 million barrels of oil are produced each year in Indiana. Indiana has produced over 500 million barrels of oil since oil and gas production started in the late 1800's. The present net value of
this cumulative production is well over $10,000,000,000.
