On November 5, 2005 the Professional Geologists of Indiana (PGI), IUB Department of Geological Sciences and the Indiana Geological Survey hosted a field trip in Turkey Run State Park.   Over 40 professional geologists, students, and faculty attended this, the sixth annual, all-university wandering fieldtrip.

This year's one day trip focused on the association of tidal and fluvial sediments within the Lower Pennsylvanian Mansfield Formation, Parke County, Indiana.

This photograph was taken of the group in one of the many deep canyons in Turkey Run State Park.  Although there is no rock directly under their feet, it is the "Geologists on the Rocks" photograph for 2005.

PGI wishes to thank all those who attended for making this a truly enjoyable experience with special recognition to the organizers, Eric Kvale of the IGS and PGI Board Member Greg Scarpone, as well as those who cooked our hot lunchtime meal.

Mass exodus after someone says the magic word: "Lunch!" Our fearless leader, Eric Kvale, contorts his body in order for us to understand the complex bedding in these Mansfield Sandstones.
