- PGI recommends the membership SEARCH for the following pending
legislation: House Bill 1287: This bill introduces the
Geologist In Training, GIT, into the LPG statute. House Bill 1552 addresses many DNR issues. Near the bottom of this bill
you will find the language that completes the process of removing geologists as well as
all professionals other than professional engineers from involvement in dam safety and
inspections on high hazard classified dams in Indiana. On the site you can also
search by key word. If you find pending legislation that causes you concern, links
are provided to direct you to your elected congressional staff. PGI encourages
the political awareness of our professional members and colleagues.

Resources Commission site contains information related to jurisdictions written in
easy to understand language.
- Division of Water
The Water Well
Record Data Base is of special interest to Geologists. This ~300,000
record data base is searchable by reference number or by a few other methods such as
section location. There is FREE Viewing and printing of
individual records. A link to the Access Indiana site is provided for down loading
blocks of data. There is a fee for the block downloads which is explained on the
site.
The Publications Page
contains ten 'book marked' lists of publications. Three of the sections present
Ground Water publications of direst interest to Geologists in Indiana. The Basin Studies
book mark will take the user to a list showing not only the price and availability of the
Water Resource Availability Reports but also provide ordering information for CD's
containing basic data and mapping used in the reports. These data and maps present
Transmissivity, Aquifer Systems, ambient ground-water chemistry, and some detailed bedrock
topography mapping for selected areas in Indiana. They also include the metadata and
viewing software. The DOW Announcement page contains
links to the Indiana Drainage Handbook, General Guidelines
for New Dams and Improvements to Existing Dams
in Indiana, Rainfall Frequency for Indiana, and Recommended Guidelines for the
Construction of Wells, all of which should be of interest
to Geologists working in Indiana. The content of each publication is well introduced
on the site (by clicking on the link) along with download procedure and estimated time.
NEW January 2005
Announcement: The Division of Water, Department of Natural Resources has redesigned
their Ground Water Maps/Publications Web site to be more user-friendly than it has been in
the past. The new site has several new features, including a clickable map that the user
may choose any county in the state and receive all Division of Water ground water
publications/maps available for the county. The user may also select by type of product--
for example, the new products for Unconsolidated and Bedrock Aquifer Systems by county,
Bulletins, Atlas, or Statewide maps and/or reports. In addition, the site has links to
