PRINCIPLES
OF GEOMORPHOLOGY
Instructors: Robert D. Hall
Fall, 1999
Broadly defined, geomorphology is the study of landforms and the processes that created them. This includes an analysis of Earth surface history and landform evolution. In this course, we will primarily be concerned with the processes involved with landform development, or process geomorphology.
There are a number of different landscapes that we could examine during the duration of the course - coastal, eolian, glacial, karstic, fluvial, etc. However, given the constraints on our time, we are going to focus on areas: (1) weathering and soils, (2) hillslope processes, (3) fluvial processes and landforms, and (4) glacial processes and landforms. If we have time we shall discuss karst landforms.
