PRINCIPLE PARTS OF A FACETED GEMSTONE
1. Girdle is the portion that encircles the stone at the boundary between the crown and pavilion facets.
2. Crown is that portion of the stone above the girdle.
3. Table is the large flat facet on top of the crown.
4. Bezel is the inclined area of the crown between the table and girdle.
5. Pavilion is the Inclined area between the girdle and the culet.
6. Culet is the small, flat facet at the point where the pavilion facets meet (this facet is cut to reduce the possibility of damage).
