General Information on Checklists

These checklists were compiled by the late Alan Stanley Horowitz (Department of Geological Sciences, Indiana University, 1005 East 10th Street, Bloomington, IN 47405).  I have made them available as a resource for bryozoologists and will appreciate any corrections or additions that might keep the lists current.  The creation date of each checklist is indicated at the end of of the listing.

     Listings are taken from names cited in the Zoological Record, the monographs of Gregory (1896) and Walter (1969) and literature at hand.  Subsequent generic assignments are referred to the original generic and specific names.  Capitalized names are original new published names.  Subsequent generic assignments are italicized.  Names not capitalized or italicized are ones taken from the secondary literature and have not been verified by examination of the original sources or are nomina nuda.

      Lists were made possible through the assistance of Alan Cheetham and JoAnn Sanger, who made literature available at the United States Museum of Natural History, and Lois Heiser and her staff in the Geological Library of the Department of Geological Sciences at Indiana University, who obtained many items through interlibrary loan.  Finally, thanks are due the many colleagues who have sent reprints through the years.
